What to Do If a Trip Is Cancelled or You Are Running Late

How to warn the driver, how to find a replacement fast, how cancellations work and why politeness helps keep a good rating.

What to Do If a Trip Is Cancelled or You Are Running Late

Plans change: a child falls ill, you are held up at work, a car breaks down, matters get postponed. Any trip can fall through or shift, and what matters is less the incident itself than how you handle it. The right actions preserve your relationship with the driver and passengers and your reputation in the service. Here are the scenarios, using the Samarkand — Tashkent route as an example.

If you are a passenger and cannot go

The main rule: warn as early as possible. The more time the driver has, the easier it is to find another passenger for your seat.

  1. Open the booking in the app and cancel it, if that option exists.
  2. Message the driver in chat. Short and polite: "Hello, unfortunately I will not be able to travel, apologies for the inconvenience."
  3. Do not stay silent. A no-show without warning is the most unpleasant situation: the driver waits, loses time and may miss other passengers.
  4. If there is a replacement, say so. An acquaintance who can go in your place makes things easier, but agree it with the driver.

See the service rules for cancellation terms and possible consequences, as they may be updated. The earlier you cancel, the fewer the problems.

If you are running late

Everyone is late sometimes. What matters is not making it worse.

  • Tell them as soon as you realise. Message or call the driver: "I'm 10 minutes late."
  • Give a realistic time. Do not promise "five minutes" if you need twenty.
  • Decide together. The driver will say whether they can wait. They may have other passengers and a schedule.
  • If the delay is long, it is better to cancel the trip and book another than to make everyone wait.
  • Think about a buffer. Arrive at the pickup point 10-15 minutes before departure.

If the driver cancels

A cancellation by the driver is unpleasant but manageable.

  1. Stay calm: reasons can be serious, such as a breakdown or illness.
  2. Open the app at once and find a replacement. On popular routes the choice is usually wide, and on others look at trips in neighbouring hours.
  3. Widen the search: consider nearby cities, other pickup points, a train or bus as a fallback.
  4. Message in chat if the driver has not replied and clarify the situation.
  5. If you have already paid in advance, check the refund terms in the service rules.

A backup plan is always useful. If you need to make an important event, leave with time to spare and keep an alternative in mind.

If you are a driver and must cancel

Responsibility matters especially for a driver: passengers build plans around you.

  • Cancel as early as possible. A day or several hours before is better than the last moment.
  • Tell each passenger personally via chat and explain the reason briefly and honestly.
  • Help with an alternative. Suggest another trip or time.
  • Apologise. A sincere "sorry" reduces displeasure.
  • Do not abuse cancellations. Frequent cancellations hurt your rating and trust.

If the reason is a breakdown on the road, tell passengers immediately and help them find another way to get there.

How not to ruin your rating

Rating is built on reliability. It suffers not from a cancellation itself but from no-shows without warning, rudeness and hiding problems. A few tips:

  • treat bookings responsibly: book when you are really sure;
  • warn in advance and communicate politely;
  • do not quarrel or blame each other in chat;
  • if a conflict occurs, contact the service's support.

Practical tips

  1. Save the driver's or passenger's contacts and trip details.
  2. Turn on notifications so you do not miss messages.
  3. Study the cancellation terms in advance.
  4. Plan important trips with a buffer and keep a fallback option.
  5. Do not book several trips at once if you are not sure which you will take.

Bottom line

A cancellation or delay is not a disaster if you act promptly and politely. Warn early, offer solutions and do not vanish. For more on trips see the for passengers and for drivers pages, and for all directions the all routes page.
